Hi, I’m Mudfly!  I’m a one and a half year old very sweet boy who loves to cuddle and play. I’m very active and love to go on long walks, jogs and spend time at the dog park. I am fully housetrained. I’m working on crate training but don’t really need it because I’m generally good when my foster parents aren’t around (except if there’s food on the counter- even though I know I’m not suppose to jump on the counter to grab food, I like doing that!). I’m working on resisting this urge 🙂

I am excellent with all dogs I meet and I tend to adapt my behaviour to match the other dog’s needs/desire to play. I’ve been introduced to children and my foster family thinks I’d be a great family dog with experienced dog owners. My foster family doesn’t have any cats but I don’t think I like those furry beings- I usually try chasing cats during my walks when I see them.

Speaking of walks, I’m practising walking nicely on the leash and I am getting better every day. My foster mom tried a front clip harness and I walk like an angel now! I pull a bit when I see cats, squirrels and bunnies but otherwise I’m quite good and I even sit on command at every intersection (with treats). I’m great off leash and follow my foster parents and foster fur-sister when we go to the dog park. I’m currently walking between 7-10kms/ day with my foster mom and love it.

I am very food motivated and respond well to treats and positive reinforcement (in that order).

My foster parents think I would do best in a family with experienced dog owners because I sometimes bark to express my needs. For example, sometimes I bark when I’m bored, when I want attention, or when I want something that I’m not getting. For this reason, I am not well suited to apartment or condo style living.  When I get really frustrated, I sometimes nibble on my foster parents’ hands but only to play, not to hurt them.

I should probably also tell you that when I was about six months old, I broke my back right leg through no fault of my own. My foster parents don’t think I’m in pain and it doesn’t generally bother me although sometimes during rough play with other dogs, it might bother me. I’m getting an ortho vet assessment this month to check things out so I’ll keep you posted on the results!

Everyone I meet tells me that I’m very sweet, cute and playful. I would love to cuddle up with you and make you laugh with my silly floppy ears. If you’re an energetic and experienced dog owner, I would love to come home with you and give you lots of love. Pick me?

*To help you figure out my doggie quirks, you will receive a behavioural credit with an MMDR trainer
