Volunteer Team

Team volunteers are volunteers who are able to commit several hours each week.  Our volunteers are the back bone of Mutts, doing the work that allows animals to be rescued and re-homed.  If you have some time available and are interested in learning more, please send an email to [email protected] You will receive some forms, and have a chance to chat about Mutts and opportunities.

Reference Checker Contact reference checkers over the phone, provided by potential adopters. Record info on Google docs. Ability speaking in a clear and professional manner, computer and internet access required. Hours: 2-3/week
Supply Houses – Transcona/East Kildonan, West Kildonan, Fort Richmond/Richmond West, South St. Vital Store kennels, toys, gates, leashes, collars, food and other supplies to provide to fosters. Respond to emails from supplies and fosters, arrange pick up and drop off. Hours: vary depending on demand.
Alumni Follow Up Follow up with adopters over the phone, address outstanding questions, provide additional information, update animal’s information on Barrk. Hours: 5/week
Vetting Assistant Frequent email communication as primary point of contact for fosters, vet clinics and recent adopters about medical questions & concerns. Maintain accurate records for general health, medication, surgeries and Super Troopers. Work closely with partnering vet clinics and staff to book medical appointments, follow up on treatment plans and compile exam notes. Requirements: Professional communication style (written/oral), responsible, ability to understand medical and technical information. Some knowledge of animal health, general veterinary knowledge, quick learner and ability to multi-task across platforms. Computer/email/google docs knowledge, ability to access online database and information. Hours: 15-20/week. Shared position as part of the Vetting Team with flexible daytime/evening schedule
Raffle Administrator Recruit and schedule volunteers to sell tickets at community booth. Organize prizes and draws, meet with MLCA inspector, marketing. Hours: 4-6/week
Vetting Database Entry Responsible for uploading documents (ie electronically received from vet clinics) into database or forwarding to appropriate positions. Update/edit google documents. Follow up on missing vetting documents. Attention to detail. Computer/email/ability to access online databases including uploading documents 

Hours: 4 – 6/week, flexible

Vaccine Coordinator- Clinics Sends animals information to vet clinics for upcoming vaccine dates. Responds to inquiries from vet clinics for clarification or additional information. Ensures all animals receive all necessary vaccinations in a timely manner. Communication with a variety of people, attention to detail and self motivated. Hours: 1-2 a week with some flexibility but activities do affect others on the team/need to meet timelines for scheduled vaccine clinics. Some work on Sunday/Monday is required.
Vaccine Coordinator- fosters/adopters Sends vaccine reminders  to fosters and adopters- where and how to schedule appointments. Ensures all animals receive all necessary vaccinations in a timely manner. Communication with a variety of people, attention to detail and self motivated. Hours: 1-2 a week with some flexibility but activities do affect others on the team/need to meet timelines for scheduled vaccine clinics.
