Hi there, I’m Minny!
Most puppies going up for adoption these days are pretty typical puppies, but my foster family keeps telling me that I’m not one of those. I’m special apparently, whatever that means.
I’m a really smart pup, but that means I get bored really easily, so nothing entertains me for long other than food. I’m also really good at getting into things that I’m not supposed to like the garbage and the laundry. I love socks! When I’m awake, I’m really awake, so you’ll have to have lots of toys and games to entertain me! Then when I sleep, I love to cuddle and sleep on your chest or at your feet. Since I’m so smart, I’ve been learning tricks and commands really quickly. My foster parents have been hand feeding me all of my food for the past couple weeks as recommended by a behaviour specialist and they say that I’ve been making real progress.
Another thing that you should know about me is that I do what I want when I want. If you try to make me do something that I don’t want to do, I’ll make a fuss, and depending on the situation, might get aggressive, but my foster parents have been working on that with me and I’m learning to express myself using my voice instead of my actions. Because of these sometimes aggressive behaviours, I shouldn’t be in a home with children and I should definitely have an experienced dog owner as a future parent. I also need another dog in the home for me to play with and to teach me their ways.
My foster family has been working on kennel training and house training me, and say I’m doing pretty well with both. I very rarely have accidents in the house, and usually don’t mind the kennel, but when I do, you’ll know! I sleep in the kennel overnight no problem, usually requiring a pee break once or twice in the night. I have a small bladder you know! During the day I definitely need to be kenneled for part of it, because otherwise I get overwhelmed, and that’s when my aggressive behaviours come to the surface, but I won’t always like it. I prefer napping on the couch, ideally right in your lap (Honestly, I’d prefer sleeping in bed with you at night too, but I’ll get over it).
Just a recap, my family needs to have lots of time to train me and play brain games to tire me out. You need lots of toys and treats to win me over, and then a lap to nap on when I’m tired. You’ll need to be patient with me, because I’m still figuring out what I should and shouldn’t bite, and my teeth are sharp! I need a canine brother or sister, and oh! I forgot to mention, a big fenced yard would be great, because I love exploring outside and chewing on sticks.
If you’re ready for a pup with an attitude, then I’m your gal, but be ready! Adopting me means dealing with me on my good days when I’ll make you laugh all day long, my bad days when I’ll drive you absolutely bonkers, and every day in between that’ll be a little bit of a roller coaster. I look forward to meeting anyone who’s ready to embark on this adventure together!
