ADOPTION PENDING – NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
Hi! My name is Trixie!! My foster parents say I am a daily reminder of why people foster. Once I felt safe, my heart exploded with love for my foster family. If you’re looking for a dog with the heart of a pup, the low maintenance needs of a mature dog, and love that is overflowing and never ending, I am the dog for you! I am the perfect mix of energetic and calm. I LOVE people and once I fall for you, I won’t let you out of my sight. Just ask my foster dad… I follow him EVERYWHERE. My favourite thing to do all day is be right beside you and/or snuggle up with you on the couch. 

I learned so quickly to use the door-bells at my foster’s house to let them know when I want outside to go to the bathroom, but I would need you to be patient and show me the new rules at your house for the first few days. I am crate trained and will go in there with a treat or two at night, but I would WAY rather cuddle up at the foot of your bed or next to my little two-legged siblings if I’m lucky enough to have some. During the day, my foster family lets me stay in the guest room, where my kennel is. They don’t make me stay in my kennel, but they don’t quite trust me out by myself yet because they keep a lot of snacks around and I will do ANYTHING for food. I’m not used to having so much food accessible to me, so if I see it on the counter…. I will try to get it if you’re out of the room. So like I said, I get to stay in the guest room when my foster parents are gone, I can go in my kennel if I want to… but I usually sleep on the bed and I do just fine. 

I am good with kids and other dogs; however, I get pretty bossy with other dogs when food is around so I need a little time to warm up. I tend to growl so that they know I’m tough, but as soon as my foster mom says “No!” I stop growling and run to give my foster mom kisses. 

I like going for walks with you and I am really good on a leash, but honestly, my favourite thing to do is just be with you. So, if we don’t make it on a walk one day, but I get to spend time with you going for car rides, or snuggling on the couch, I will be happy as a clam! 

I am VERY food motivated so training me has been a breeze. I have learned how to sit and am working on shake-a-paw. I don’t understand “lay down” yet but my foster parents and foster brother are working hard to teach me! Oh I also LOVE to play fetch or just chew on tennis balls.

I am the most loving dog you will probably ever meet. If you are looking for a best friend with a heart of gold, who is easy to care for, I am your girl. I’m looking for a family who wants to spoil me with the same love and affection I know I will give to them. I would be happy with a single parent, two parents, siblings (four legged or two legged), I am just looking for a place I can call my own. Is there room in your heart and home for a girl like me?
