Hi, I’m Gertrude, but I prefer to be called Gertie! 🐶

I’m an easy-going girl who likes to play in multiple short bursts. I love relaxing on the couch or my bed with a toy, and I like to be close with my people to see what they’re doing. 

I am still working on housetraining, but I’m very food motivated and I’m almost there! I’m still learning how to cue when I need to go, so I need to be taken out frequently. I’m still working on crate training overnight- if I’m in a separate room,  I’ll cry for a minute or two before calming down. If I’m in a room with someone, I feel a lot better being in there. I bark in my crate if I need to go potty, but sometimes I have accidents.

I am good with kids, cats and dogs! I like my feline foster siblings more than they like me. I’m very respectful and listen to their cues, and no matter how excited I am when they come around, I approach them gently and try not to scare them away. I love people, and greet them excitedly (I like to jump and give kisses, but I’m practicing no jumping). I don’t bark when people come in the house.

I like going for walks up and down the driveway, I don’t have all my vaccines so I haven’t practiced on the street/sidewalk yet. Sometimes I chew on my leash, but if I know there are treats, I listen very well, and I’ll stay pretty close. I do like to hold the leash and pretend I’m taking my people out for a walk.

I’m teething, so I will bite and nibble when playing or greeting you at the door, but I stop and give a kiss if you say ‘ow’, and I’m easily distracted with a toy. 

I’m a very goofy, sweet, loving girl who would do good in a moderately active home.
