Hi. I’m Beluga, mother to the Canadian Animals litter. I’m an easy going, but shy girl who loves being around my people. I came into care back in October with my babies who I cared for very well, but now I am ready to find my own fur-ever family to love. I am house trained, but when I go to a new place, I get very nervous and might have a few accidents at the start. Please be patient with me, I am just scared and need time to adjust to your new system. I have not been crate/kennel trained, but I do not get into things when my people are sleeping so it has not been an issue.
I want to love people so much and am a loyal, loving, playful partner once we get to know each other well. I am a little nervous and need time & patience to warm up. When I first came into care, things that are unfamiliar really scared me like doors, car rides, my crate, stairs, loud/large dogs, and new people to name a few. However, I have worked through some of these fears already; I jump in & out of cars no problem now, I run up & down stairs, I am drawn to new people more easily and I am really good on walks/leash. When I do get nervous, you will notice my tail will be between my legs, please don’t take it personally as I have in the past always assumed the worst. Particularly in new situations and surroundings.
Another thing to keep in mind is that I have had good and bad experiences with other dogs, so if you have a dog, we should meet before we commit to anything serious. When I first came into foster care, I lived with another dog and we were best friends however when I have met other dogs on walks I get nervous. Depending on the other dog’s behavior I may want to go the other way. I have been regularly walking on a leash with my foster mom and she says I am getting better and better each day! I have had great experiences with kids. I regularly play and go on walks with kids where we run and jump up on snow hills. Cats… well I am not totally sure on this one. I met a couple cats and I was very interested in them. Due to my limited interaction with them, I am going to go with no cats for now just to be safe.
Once I am comfortable, I will follow you around the house. When you are sitting on the couch or at the table, I will come rest my paw on your lap to show you I would love some attention. You will know when I am enjoying your love because when you stop petting me, I will gently rest my paw on your hand or leg to encourage you to keep going.
I hope I didn’t scare you away… even though many things at first make me nervous. I am so ready to find my patient, loving fur-ever family and if you put in the time to build a trusting relationship, in exchange you will get the most loyal friend that has such a heart full of love to share with you.
