Meet Groopert — a goofy guy looking for his people!

Groopert is the kind of dog who makes you work a little for his trust – but once you’ve earned it, you get something really special in return.  He’s loyal, silly, playful, incredibly food-motivated, and has a huge goofy-and-cuddly side that comes out once he feels safe with you.

He’s a smart guy who loves learning, and training with him is genuinely fun.  He’s the type of dog who will make you laugh, keep you on your toes, and then happily curl up with you in the evening.

Groopert’s ideal home is one that understands that relationships take time.  He can be cautious with new people and needs someone who will let him warm up at his own pace rather than expecting instant friendship.  A calm, predictable home and a family who enjoys building trust through patience, structure, and positive reinforcement would be perfect for him. Along with a fenced yard to play in! (No apartment style homes though)

He will also do best with adopters who won’t leave him alone for long stretches right away.  He’s comfortable in his crate when someone is around, but he can be vocal when left alone, so his adopter should be willing to work on that gradually and thoughtfully. An experienced owner may be the best fit.  

With a slow, controlled introduction, Groopert may be able to live with dog-savvy cats and he has done well living with another dog and with older kids. Meeting a potential dog in your home ahead of time would be great.
