Hi, my name is Janus! I am the mama of the January litter!
I am a very calm and sweet girl! I do require slow introductions to any other dogs or cats. When I first came in to foster care, I did not like the resident cat but I am very food motivated and it only took a couple of days for me to start associating the cat with good things! I am absolutely great with the resident dog and love to play with her as well as my own pup.
I am fully house-trained and happily spend time in my kennel when asked, although I am very good when left out when home alone. I love just curling up on the couch and waiting for you to come home. I absolutely adore head scratches and tons of pets. I very rarely sleep on foster mom’s bed at night but prefer the comfy dog bed next to hers.
I am a lower-energy dog who loves my comfortable naps and just chewing on a bone, but I do enjoy my walks as well because it means I can go out and wander! I am fairly good on a leash and don’t pull. I know that when the leash gets tight I have gone too far. I have also gone on a couple of short hikes, but I am normally exhausted afterward and sleep for the rest of the day. I do require to be on a leash at all times whenever I am in an unfenced outdoor space as I do not have any recall and enjoy my solo adventures.
I do have a couple of bad habits that I am working out, but nothing that a couple of treats and time won’t fix. I do jump up, so a house without young kids would be best (over 5 years old is preferable) so I don’t accidentally knock them over as I just love people, little and big! Despite having come in super skinny and absolutely loving treats, I am not food obsessed and will calmly sit and wait for supper to be served and not fuss when my food bowl is taken from me mid-meal.
I do believe I would fit in best with a quiet, calm home as foster mom has noticed that whenever she raises her voice in any way, I do become uncomfortable and try to suck up as I believe I did something wrong. As I said, I am a very sweet girl, but I can be very shy around fast movements. It did take some time to realize being brushed isn’t scary at all and is actually enjoyable. When I am done I will gently take the brush or nail clippers and walk away with them! Foster mom says I am just full of personality and potential!
Can you give me all the love I deserve and a soft, warm place to call home?
