At Manitoba Mutts we take in dogs from all over Manitoba who have been abandoned, abused or surrendered at no fault of their own. Our dogs are tested with other dogs, cats and kids. Please note that listed breeds are more often than not just a guess based on the appearance of the dog. Also, full grown weight for puppies is a guess based on their mother and supposed breeds. Almost all of our rescues are purebred mutts, which is what makes them so special, they're one of a kind.
Reuben Age: 7 years (01-02-2010) | Sex: Male Breed: Mixed | Size: M (30-50lbs) Hi I'm Reuben! I'm an energetic dog who likes to have fun. I know basic commands, I am house trained and I walk well on leash using a gentle leader. I get along with most dogs after a proper intro, so I would need to meet any furry roommates before moving in. I prefer to be in a home without cats and with children 12 and up. I have some separation anxiety and don't like to be left alone, so I require an indestructible kennel, which is included in my adoption fee. I am a handsome and snuggly guy, looking for someone to love me, will it be you? Visit www.manitobamutts.org or contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Joanie **Adoption Fee Sponsored** Age: 2 years (05-06-2015) | Sex: Female Breed: Mixed | Size: L (50-80lbs) I’m Joanie and my foster mom says I am the sweetest girl EVER and that I deserve a good home.. I really love attention and being around people! I love going for walks and rides in the car. I am my foster dad's faithful companion in the car. I am well behaved in the house and do not need to be crated. My foster mom and dad leave me out when they are away and I just lounge around the house waiting for them to come home. However I will go in my crate if you insist. I am house trained and have no accidents, I will you know when I need to go out. When I get excited, like before walks or car rides I get very expressive and can be very talkative. I can really make my foster mom and dad laugh. I do have a reduced range of motion in my hips, but I am taking glucosamine and it seems to really help! My foster human can tell you more about this. I need to go to a home without any other animals or kids under 12. I’m such a sweet girl and would love to meet you. Please be my forever family!! Mellow Age: 8 months (01-06-2017) | Sex: Female Breed: Mixed | Size: L 50-80 lbs) Hi, I’m Mellow. I’m a goofy, loveable pup. When MMDR rescued me, I had a broken femur and fractured pelvic bone. I was scared and didn’t trust people. Surgery fixed my broken bones. Love and patience from my foster family fixed my heart. The dogs in my foster home helped me relax and feel safe. In order to adopt me my forever home should be experienced owners and have another dog or dogs to help me adjust to a new life. New situations and certain people can still make me nervous. I bark when I meet new people and I sound scary because I have a deep loud bark. Just give me some time to sniff you out and once I realize I can get pets and treats I won’t leave you alone! I don’t always have the best manners so older kids would be best for me. I provide a lot of laughs, knocking things over with my tail, whacking you with my big paws, sticking my cold nose into your ear. I walk well on a leash and harness and my recall off leash is good. As long as I have a group of dogs and you have treats, I have always come back when called. I am fully house trained. I haven’t been kennelled since I was a young pup. I’m allowed to roam the house and have caused a few shoe deaths but otherwise I am usually good. My leg will probably always be stiff and not work as well as the other 3 but it won’t keep me from having fun. I love to be outside on a nice day and I enjoy walks. My foster mom is 100% in love with me and would like to adopt me herself. She has promised foster dad that she won’t adopt any more dogs. So help her out and be the most wonderful and fun family who comes to adopt me! Visit www.manitobamutts.org or contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Banff (Asha) Age: 2 years (08-29-2015) | Sex: Female Breed: Mixed | Size: L (50-80lbs) Hi I'm Banff but go by Asha! I’m a high energy and fun girl who loves to be around her humans! I will require an active home and would love some further obedience training. I am working on house training as sometimes I have separation anxiety if left alone too long. I have been crate trained and would like to continue in a positive manner. I am good playing with other dogs for a play date but will be best suited to a home that I don't have to share with other pals. I haven't met any cats and may be better suited to older children as I have reacted better with them. I like going for walks but I am still a young girl so practice makes perfect! I am a super sweet and beautiful girl who would love to keep you company! Do you have a spot on the couch to cuddle with me? Pinky (Ghost) Age: 1 year (10-05-2016) | Sex: Female Breed: Mixed | Size: L (50-80lbs) Hi there, tall, blonde canine gal here, looking for a serious monogamous relationship. I am looking for someone who is fun and active, who also likes to snuggle. I love to run and play fetch and when I am tired I would love to watch TV or read a book with you, preferably on top of you...haha. I am house trained and kennel trained. I am trustworthy in the house and would prefer to lounge on my dog bed and chew on a bone while you are away. I don't jump into new situations paws first, and will need to learn to trust you- but when I fall in love, I fall hard. I will be by your side through thick and thin. Since I am looking for a serious relationship, I would need to be number one in your eyes. No other dogs, cats or kids please. I would tolerate another older human or two- with the right treats, I could fall in love with just about anyone. My favourite things are treats and running. You will have to check out the video of me trying Skijoring- I had fun because it involved both of my favourite things! I have great recall too, so you don't have to be able to keep up with me while I run and explore. Are you are a patient, loving human who is willing to help me gain confidence in new situations? Then I would be your perfect, beautiful, loyal companion! Visit www.manitobamutts.org or contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Barbie Age: 6 years (06–14-2011) | Sex: Female Breed: Mixed | Size: L (50-80lbs) Hi I'm Barbie! I’m an easy-going girl who loves to be with my people and nap on soft things like the couch. I am fully house and crate trained, though sometimes I get stubborn and will not go into the crate even with treats. Once I am in the crate though, I am good the entire day and just nap while my foster parents are at work. I get excited sometimes and like to steal my foster dad’s socks/shoes, chew on the side of the coffee table while playing with my foster sister (she was cheating and using it as a fort) and jump up to say hi. I also love rolling in the snow and travelling to Narnia under the deck. I haven’t had the chance to meet any kids, but my foster parents think I would be good with older children because I like any human I’ve met so far. I don’t like cats (or probably any small snack sized animals) and require a slow introduction to other dogs because I lived my life outside up until now. My foster sister is a dog my size that I love to play with now, but that was after a long (5 months), slow introduction and a few scraps that foster dad had to break up. I would be happier with a very experienced dog owner if I have other dog siblings or as the only dog in the home. I LOVE going for walks but need practice with my leash manners. I am a sweet, devoted girl who would love to spend our evenings together giving you kisses and sometimes chewing on your appendages. Is there room for me in your family? Chevy Age: 4 years (05-17-2013) | Sex: Male Breed: Mixed | Size: XL (80+lbs) Hi everyone I’m Chevy! I am a very easy going and the most sweetest guy that loves lots of attention! I had a pretty rough start when I came to live with my foster family because I needed a big surgery on my leg called TPLO (tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy) or as my Foster Mama says a ruptured ACL. Unfortunately, I will have to take it easy because my Doctor said that there is a really good chance that my other leg could rupture and I sure don’t want to go through that again…even though my Foster Mama said I was the BESTEST patient!! My Foster Mama smiles so proud when she calls me her “Gentle Giant” when I lay my head on her lap or sit on her feet. I give lots of kisses especially when my family come home from work/school. I do not go in a crate because I am so well behaved and my big soft bed is where I like to rest my head. I have a four legged foster sister and she was such a good friend to me while I was recuperating from my surgery so I would like to have a doggy brother or sister because I don’t like being alone. My favorite thing is to be where ever my family is I like to wrestle on the floor with my teenage foster brother (…wink wink) but now that I am getting better I like to play tug of war with my toys and it would be great to have a big back yard to romp around in because I need to stretch my long legs. Now that my leg is slowly healing and that I can walk on all four legs again, I enjoy going for walks but I am very strong and can pull too hard sometimes when I catch a scent of something interesting so I need reminding to walk nice! I am great with dogs and older kids. I am very curious of this furry thing that lives with me called “a cat”! I give him kisses sometimes but he just rubs his tail in my face. I like meeting new people but I have to be reminded to stay back because I get so excited I push through just because I want to see who it is coming to visit us!! I can do a few tricks and I shake a paw every chance I get especially for a carrot or yummy dog treats. Please take a chance on me and I promise I will love you as much as you will love me! Airport Age: 8 months (07-01-2017) | Sex: Male Breed: Mixed | Size: L (50-80lbs) Hi I'm Airport aka Chewbacca (Chewie)! I’m a sweet, happy, high energy boy who loves treats, walks, and my stuffies. I am fully housetrained and although new living situations can confuse me I will let you know when I need to go out. My foster mom has been keeping me in her back room instead of a crate at night and I don’t make a peep! I would probably do ok in a crate but I like having the extra space. I like to nibble on fabric but only when my stuffies aren’t around so someday I could probably stay loose in the house when my forever family is gone! I am really friendly and excited to meet other dogs on walks but I don’t have a very good concept of personal space so a slow introduction is best. I haven’t been tested with cats but my prey drive is pretty high so a home with cats might not be the best fit! I also haven’t been tested with kids but I would probably do best with older or dog savvy kids as I can forget my size and am still exploring with my mouth and nibbling a bit! I do really well in large groups though, and just like to wander around saying hi to everyone. WALK?! Did somebody say walk?! I LOVE walks! I have pretty good manners on the leash for the most part but really want to say hi to all my dog friends on my walks. I never bark but do my signature Chewbacca wails and dance around a bit. I will need my furever family to be pretty active and love walks as much as I do! I need a tall fence as I’m very good at jumping! My foster mom says I am the most beautiful, friendly walking carpet she’s ever met and that I would make an excellent copilot to a lucky furever family! Are you the family that will take me to a galaxy far far away? Visit www.manitobamutts.org or contact email@example.com for more information.
Tomboy Age: 11 months (04-01-2017) | Sex: Male Breed: Mixed | Size: L (50-80lbs) Well hello there! My name is Tomboy and I am super soft and furry because my foster mom feeds me fishy stuff and brushes me every second day! I have to admit...I love being brushed and could lie beside her for hours while she combs my luxurious ‘man fur’. I especially like being brushed while watching the Jets play, as I have ‘fostered’ a love of the game and cheer alongside my foster mom when our team lands a goal! My mom has taught me to fetch and I absolutely love my toys and her slippers! I will bring them back and do my ‘Tomboy Dance’ for you so as you can throw them for me again! I really love to dance and my foster mom thinks I am hilarious! I must admit, I do have my faults and peed a couple of times in the basement (no poop though, as I know my limitations), but I have mastered when to let mom know when I need to go outside (just gave myself kudos on the back with my furry red paw). Oh, yes...I forgot to mention that! I have the most amazing red-coloured ears and paws...those physical traits make me so very unique...I’m handsome... GQ handsome, actually. I am waiting for the magazine to call me for their cover shoot and chat me up! Look out furry girlies, I’m going to be a star! Besides being incredibly handsome, I’m also a super duper people-loving-guy, and when my mom’s friends arrive, I’m first in line to greet each and every one of them. I hope you don’t mind if I cuddle up to your friends and family, as that is what I do...please don’t be jealous, as I do love to charm, and I do so with such amazing grace! I don’t mind being in a wire cage, but need a little bit of encouragement to get me in there. My foster mom puts me on the leash and gently guides me into the cage. I don’t like the confines of a carrier though...sorry, but perhaps you may need to work with me on that, as I am used to open spaces and my preference is to see the ‘world around me’. Although I do not have much experience with small people, cats or other puppers yet, I think if you introduce me now that I have been to the doctor to have my ‘manhood’ altered, I just may do very well and would welcome the opportunity! I also really like to do ‘zoomies’ in the yard, but my mobility is just a tad limited as jumping goes, as I am on Glucosamine each day for an injury to my left leg that the Doctor says has healed really well, but she just wants to take extra special care! Don’t worry about me, as I am just fine, but sometimes I just need to take a peaceful walk (I’m great on the leash) and play with you. That’s really all I need. I am a very low-key-kinda-guy! If you wish to meet me, I sure want to meet you! I’ll keep you nice and cozy with my soft fur as we cuddle...and when you brush me, let my fur-fly, as the birdies will love you too! Look forward to meeting you! Love, Tomboy. Visit www.manitobamutts.org or contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
